What is a prosthodontist?

Prosthodontists are dentists who specialize in the restoration and replacement of teeth. The specialty of prosthodontics is one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). After completing four years of dental school, a prosthodontist must attend three additional years with an ADA accredited graduate education program. This rigorous training and experience provide prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics involved in the preservation of a healthy mouth and the creation of a beautiful smile.
