What is a Prosthodontist?

Prosthodontics Overview

A prosthodontist is a specially trained and accredited dentist who focuses on the restoration and replacement of teeth and related structures. In addition to earning a Doctorate of Dental Medicine, a prosthodontist will complete an additional 3 years of study and training to receive accreditation in Prosthodontics.

Prosthodontics is one of 9 specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA). Every prosthodontist is an accredited dentist, but only 3% of dentists have earned the right to be called a prosthodontist.
